ROCK SPRINGS — The Performing Arts Department at Western Wyoming Community College will present the musical program “Faculty Recital: Josh Wentz and Friends,” on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the WWCC Theatre. This program is free and open to the public.
The performance will include pieces by Mendelssohn, Verdi, Sondheim, Rossini, and others. Chamber Orchestra members include: Abigail Firme, violin I; Lora Meredith, violin I; Marcia Petersen, violin II; Donna Nunez, viola; Sarah Wessel, cello; Max Lockett, cello; Debbe Spicer, double bass; Tina Price, flute; Ann Maria Mattila, flute; Tori Johnson, flute; Scott Jackson, clarinet; Linda Kulp, bass clarinet; Ann Allred, horn. It is conducted by Jed Hatcher.
The performance is free and open to the public. At the end of the concert, audience members will have an opportunity to learn about the Sweetwater BOCES/Sweetwater County Concert Association Music Scholarship, which provides instruments to student musicians who cannot afford them. Voluntary donations toward this scholarship fund will be accepted at the concert’s conclusion.
In other music news from Western, the community chorale performances featuring the Rock Springs and Green River Collegiate Chorale groups have been moved from their originally announced dates and locations: the performances on Oct. 6 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River and on Oct. 9 at Holy Communion Catholic Church in Rock Springs have been replaced by a performance on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 633 Bridger Ave., in Rock Springs.
