(SWEETWATER COUNTY, OCTOBER 27, 2015) — As Western Wyoming Community College’s Performing Arts prepares to bring the enchanted story of Mary Poppins to life, the community is also encouraged to read, explore, and experience the fairytale as well.
Western Wyoming Community College has recently teamed up with the Sweetwater County Library System to encourage individuals to first read the book, explore the topics, and then experience the play.
Lindsey Travis, Public Relations Specialist for the Sweetwater County Library System explains, “Not everyone knows ‘Mary Poppins’ started out as a book series. We hope to encourage people to read the book before seeing the play.”
The Sweetwater County Library System will have several Mary Poppins-themed events coming up ahead of WWCC’s musical production. Dates, locations, and summary of events are as follows:
- 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 @ the Sweetwater County Library — Bring the kids by to meet members of the cast, hear some songs and participate in Mary Poppins-themed activities.
- 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 @ White Mountain Library — Bring the kids by to meet members of the cast, hear some songs and participate in Mary Poppins-themed activities.
- 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 @ White Mountain Library — WWCC Assistant Professor of Musical Theater and Mary Poppins Director Chris Will will discuss how Mary Poppins comes to life on stage.
WWCC will premiere Mary Poppins on Friday, November 13th at 7:30p.m. Additional play times are as follows:
- Friday, November 13th at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, November 14th at 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, November 21st at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, November 21st at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
