Sportsman’s Warehouse is coming to Rock Springs this summer, bringing about 35 new jobs with it.RS Airport

The store will be at 1537 Dewar Drive. The company is building a new structure for the store, according to Karen Seaman, a Chief Marketing Officer with Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Seaman said the opening date is not yet finalized, but the store is anticipated to open around the beginning of August and will employ about 35 people in full-time and part-time positions.

The store will be a small format store, featuring extensive sporting goods items along with instruction, seminars, and special events related to outdoor activities, according to a release from Sportsman’s Warehouse.

“Sportsman’s Warehouse serves outdoor enthusiasts, casual users and first time participants with quality brand-name hunting, fishing, camping and shooting merchandise within a convenient shopping environment, serviced by passionate, knowledgeable associates to create a memorable outdoor experience,” Seaman said via email.

In addition to the Rock Springs location, stores will also be opened in Gillette, WY and Prescott, AZ. The Prescott store will be the sixth store in Arizona and located in the Frontier Village Shopping Center. The Gillette store will be located in the KG Town Center.

The two new Wyoming stores will bring the total number of Sportsman’s Warehouse stores in Wyoming to four. Cheyenne and Casper already have Sportsman’s Warehouses in their markets.

Combined with the locations previously announced, these stores bring the total of announced locations for 2016 to nine new locations.

“Wyoming and Arizona are great states with an abundance of hunting, camping and fishing access, along with a high customer base.  We are excited to increase our presence throughout the western United States in markets we know very well,” Sportsman’s Warehouse CEO John Schaefer said in the release. “The addition of these stores keeps with our business plan, promoting stable growth that will benefit our company, our vendors, and most importantly, our loyal customers for many years to come.  Each of these areas has a strong outdoor heritage, and we plan to become an active, contributing partner in each of these great communities.”

The news comes after confirmation that JCPenney at White Mountain Mall will close in early April. Rouse Properties, which owns White Mountain Mall is still unable to announce which store will be taking the location in the mall, but says negotiations are underway with a best in class retailer.
