Rock Springs artist, Andrew Kneeland, is the winner of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department 2017 Conservation Stamp Art Show with his depiction of the mallard through his piece, “Green River Greenheads”.
His painting will be featured on the 2017 Conservation Art Stamp.
“Having Mr. Kneeland’s piece selected through a blind-judging process is extremely notable. A winner who is a Wyoming resident and a recent high school graduate alone is rare, but Andrew was also the winner of the 2015-2016 National Junior Duck Stamp Contest, where his artwork will also be featured,” said Margaret James, art show coordinator. “We extend our most sincere congratulations to Mr. Kneeland.”Second place was awarded to Jeffrey Klinefelter, Etna Green, Indiana for “Small Island Mallards”. Third place went to Craig Fairbert of Tony, Wisconsin for “Clear For Landing.”
This year’s subject, the mallard duck generated 72 entries from throughout the country. Artists from 17 states are represented, including 43 entries from Wyoming artists. Several honorable mention awards were given:
- Bill Adair, Gulf Breeze, FL; “Last Looks”
- Eileen Nistler, Upton, WY; “Afternoon Swim”
- Dan Andrews, Denver, CO; “Springtime Mallards”
