People in Rock Springs have noticed a large aircraft in the skies around the Rock Springs Sweetwater County Airport, but airport manager Devon Brubaker says it’s nothing to worry about.
Personnel from Hill Airforce Base are practicing their touch-and-goes at the airport this morning.
“They come in on a regular basis and practice their approaches to the runway and practice their landings. As with any pilot, you have to maintain currency and you have to make sure that you are able to handle all the different instruments and everything that is in the aircraft. So it’s just a form of practice for them,” said airport manager Devon Brubaker.
Brubaker said the Rock Springs Sweetwater County Airport provides a great practice opportunity for pilots.
“They like the fact that we have a nice, long runway and we have uncongested airspace,” said Brubaker. “So they can operate without really having to worry about other traffic in the area.”
The practice ended shortly before noon, and had no impact on incoming or outgoing flights at the airport.
