Make-A-Wish Working to Partner with Local Businesses to Celebrate Wyoming Wish Month

Casper, Wyoming – Make-A-Wish® Wyoming is working to partner with local businesses around the state to celebrate the organization’s 30th anniversary throughout the month of October.

Businesses will sell paper stars to promote awareness of and raise funds for Make-A-Wish Wyoming. The stars are $1 each and all funds raised will go toward granting the wishes of Wyoming children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Businesses interested in participating may sign up any time throughout the month of October. Participants will be provided with signage and paper stars from the Make-A-Wish office in Casper. Please contact the Make-A-Wish Wyoming office at 307.234.9474 for more information.

Participating businesses may be found in Casper, Cheyenne, Evanston, Gillette, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Powell, Ten Sleep and Worland.

Make-A-Wish Wyoming granted the state’s first wish on Oct. 22, 1985, when 10-year-old Brian from Gillette wished for a BMX bike. Since then, the organization has granted nearly 500 wishes of Wyoming children.

“Brian’s wish was a call to ensure all eligible children in Wyoming receive a wish,” said Morgan Legerski, Make-A-Wish Wyoming CEO. “Thirty years and nearly 500 wishes later we still feel passionately about that mission. We are excited about our wish month and hope people around the state will help us celebrate.”

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It is a common misconception that the organization solely grants the wishes of children with terminal illnesses. To be eligible for a wish, a child must have a life-threatening illness that is defined as progressive, degenerative or malignant.

About Make-A-Wish Wyoming. Celebrating 30 years of granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, Make-A-Wish Wyoming has brought hope, strength and joy to more than 475 local children through its wish granting process.  Each year, the Wyoming chapter grants as many as 35 wishes.  For more information about the Wyoming chapter and how you can share the power of a wish® please call 888.WYO.WISH or visit www.wyoming.wish.org.
