LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 28, 2015) – Wyoming’s Laurel Ramer has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII First Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor is the second of Ramer’s career, as she was among 12 student-athletes selected to the District VII First team. She now moves on to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, which will begin on Nov. 3.
A native of Kasson, Minn., Ramer is a pre-pharmacy major and carries a 4.0 grade-point average. Ramer has been an offensive threat for the Cowgirls during her career. She has six points this season on two goals and two assists. In 2014 she played 21 games with 15 starts, notched three goals, earned Mountain West Academic All-Conference and MW Conference Scholar Athlete honors for the second-consecutive year.
To earn Academic All-District soccer honors a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.30 GPA, be a sophomore athletically, have completed in 50 percent of his/her team’s competitions and completed a full calendar year at their respective institution. Earning Academic All-District honors moves the student-athlete to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. CoSIDA District VII comprises features schools from nine states including Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
