LANDER– Wyoming Game and Fish Department reminds pheasant hunters of regulation changes at Ocean Lake Wildlife Management Area, Mile High Ranch Access and Sand Mesa Wildlife Management Area.
Pheasant hunting opens November 7th in these areas and regulation changes apply to legal shooting hours. Beginning in 2015 shooting hours end at 2:00 pm on weekdays and sunset on weekends, and on all days shooting hours begin at 8:00 am. These changes were made in response to input and concerns from the public that in previous years released pheasants did not have adequate time before nightfall to find cover and protection from predators. Ending shooting hours earlier in the day allows pheasants to be released earlier and should give the birds more opportunity to acclimate before dark.
