A man from Boulder, Colo. was arrested Friday after crashing into a vehicle that was pulled over by Wyoming Highway Patrol near Shoshoni, Wyo.
Roy Stops, 57, was arrested and charged with impaired driving, careless driving, driving while his license was revoked, open container, and no insurance, according to a release from Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at about 5:19 p.m. Friday at mile post 95 on US Highway 20/26, about five miles east of Shoshoni.
WHP Lt. Lee Pence pulled over a 2012 Honda Civic for speeding. While parked behind the car, Lt. Pence saw a 2005 Chevy Malibu, later determined to be driven by Stops, nearly miss his patrol car and crash into the stopped Honda. No serious injuries were sustained during the crash.
WHP says the incident serves as a reminder for everyone to be vigilant against impaired drivers. You can report a suspected drunk driver at any time by calling 1-800-442-9090 or 911.
It is the law in Wyoming to slow down on two lane highways and move over on interstate highways when approaching stopped emergency vehicles.
