According to a press release the Red Desert Humane Society (RDHS) is hosting its Annual Mutt Putt Golf Tournament at White
Mountain Golf Course on September 17th, 2016. This has become one of the signature events at RDHS and an important part of raising necessary funds to help homeless animals in Sweetwater County.
The event is a 4-person scramble for 18 holes with a shotgun start at 8am. Interested golfers are encouraged to gather their friends and sign up at the Pro Shop at the golf course. There are plenty of prizes available for the teams and individual along with some fun and exciting games. Want to try hitting a marshmallow? How about winning $10,000 with a hole in one shot? Or, you might see if you can find a Golden Ball with your Hunting License.
According to Melinda Bass of the Humane Society, “RDHS relies on individual donations and fundraisers to pay nearly all expenses for the over 200 animals it cares for each year. This year the cats offered to take charge and run the Humane Society, to save on staffing costs… [but] the Board was afraid their first decision would be to get rid of all the dogs. Instead, the Board will host Mutt Putt for the 6th year and have the cats focus on other tasks.”
Individuals interested in becoming a sponsor or learning more about Mutt Putt can contact RDHS at 362-1636 to find out sponsorship details.
