GREEN RIVER – The Green River Police Department is accepting applications for the 2016 Citizens Academy through February 26th, 2016. The course will be limited to 20 participants, so early application is encouraged, according to a release from GRPD. 
The Citizens Academy is a seven-week program for citizens interested in learning more about how their police department operates. The program consists of classroom and hands-on instruction, covered by officers from the department and specialized guest speakers.
The Citizens Academy is open to any person who lives in Sweetwater County age 18 or older.. Applicants will undergo a background check.
The class will meet for seven weeks on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting on March 7, 2016 and commencing on April 18th, 2016.
