Four Hospitalized after Medical Condition causes Three-Vehicle Crash

(ROCK SPRINGS, October 13, 2015) — On 10-12-15 at about  8:30p.m., officers of the Rock Springs Police Department, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department, SW Medics, and Rock Springs Fire Department responded to a three-vehicle crash at the corner of the South Belt Loop and Dewar Drive.

Preliminary investigations shows a silver passenger vehicle was traveling north at a high rate of speed on the Belt Route. The vehicle continued over the overpass and crossed into oncoming traffic.  The silver car collided with the driver side of a red passenger car sending the red car into the guard rail.

The silver car continued to travel north, glanced off the guard rail and continued towards the intersection of the Belt Route and Dewar Drive.  A silver SUV was turning right onto the Belt Route from Dewar Drive as the silver car approached the intersection in the wrong lane of travel.  The two vehicles collided head-on.  The impact forced the SUV completely off the roadway as the silver car came to rest in the intersection of Dewar Drive and the South Belt Loop.

Four people were taken to the ER with non-life threatening injuries. Medical conditions are the primary cause of this crash which is still under investigation.
