OCTOBER 13, 2015 — The Bureau of Land Management, High Desert District fire crews have 100 percent contained the 630 acre Smith Mountain wildfire located approximately 40 miles southeast of Casper, Wyoming as of Sunday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m.
Both Albany County and BLM HDD will maintain a presence in the fire area. The fire remains under investigation.
“I would like to take this time to thank Albany County, Wyoming State Forestry Division and the Medicine Bow National Forest for all their hard work over the past two weeks working with BLM to contain Smith Mountain wildfire,” said Frank Keeler, BLM’s High Desert District Fire Management Officer. “Great team effort by all.”
