COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 27, 2015) — University of Wyoming junior Keely Bishop was named the Mountain West Diver of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. This marks the first time Bishop has won the award and first for a Wyoming diver since Derek Campbell won in 2013.
Bishop, a native of Eaton Hill, Queensland, Australia, had an outstanding weekend helping guide the Cowgirls to two dual victories against New Mexico State and New Mexico. On Friday, she won the 1 meter-springboard against New Mexico State with a score of 271.05 before finishing in third place in the 3-meter event. Her mark in the 1-meter qualified for NCAA Zone “E” Championships. Against New Mexico, Bishop won the 3-meter competition with a final mark of 255.45 and also claimed second on the 1-meter.
Bishop was an All-MW honoree in the 1-meter springboard and platform dive a season ago. The junior has twice qualified for the NCAA Zones. The Cowgirls continue their season this weekend when they travel to Flagstaff, Ariz., to compete against Northern Arizona and Louisiana State.
