South Dakota Homicide Suspect Arrested In Wyoming After Pursuit

A homicide suspect from South Dakota was arrested in Wyoming on Wednesday after leading authorities on a pursuit in two states.RS Airport

Jared J. Stone, 21 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, led Troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol on a pursuit westbound on Interstate 80 in western Nebraska in a 1988 Oldsmobile passenger car, according to a release from Wyoming Highway Patrol.

As the pursuit approached Wyoming, WHP Troopers set up deflation sticks at the Wyoming-Nebraska state line on I-80 near Pine Bluffs, WY. Troopers successfully deployed the stop sticks at 9:55 p.m. as Stone entered Wyoming.

The vehicle lost multiple tires, and Stone stopped at mile post 391 approximately 10 miles west of Pine Bluffs at 10:05 a.m.

Stone stayed in the car for about 25 minutes before he surrendered without incident.

Stone was wanted out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota for warrant for homicide. He was also charged locally for driving while impaired, possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine), eluding and three other traffic violations, according to WHP.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and Pine Bluffs Police Department assisted the WHP during the pursuit and arrest.

Both west and east bounds lanes of I-80 were temporarily stopped to keep oncoming traffic away until Stone had been taken into custody.
