(OCTOBER 19, 2015) — A single-vehicle crash east of Baggs, Wyoming on October 17th has resulted in the death of 54-year-old Baggs resident David A. Burnell.
The crash occurred in the early morning hours of the 17th around 4:00 a.m. on Wyoming State Highway 70 near miles post 28 approximately 28 miles east of Baggs.
Mr. Burnell was driving a 1993 Ford F-250 pickup truck eastbound on WY 70 when he failed to properly negotiate a right hand curve in the road. The truck was overcorrected, began to spin, tripped and rolled one time. Burnell was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries on scene.
Alcohol use and inattentive driving are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash. Mr. Burnell was the 117th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 125 highway fatalities in this same time period in 2014.
